I had an amazing experience at Urban Masala! The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure we felt welcome. But the real star of the show was the food - oh my, it was incredible! I ordered the Bombay plate and it was cooked to perfection. The flavors were rich and bold, and the portion size was generous. I also appreciated the attention to the presentation. Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food. I would highly recommend Urban Masala fresh Indian grill to anyone looking for a delicious Indian meal in a warm and welcoming environment. This review highlights: - Friendly and attentive service - Delicious and well-presented food - Cozy and inviting atmosphere - Reasonable prices - Overall positive experience ~ Neha S
Amazing restaurant with great Indian food and run by lovely people. Highly recommend! My partner and I are self proclaimed Indian food critics. Wherever we travel we love to eat Indian food and meet the local Indian community. We have high standards and have been sometimes disappointed by the quality of Indian food served in restaurants in the states. But urban masala did not disappoint. They serve simple food that reminds one of home cooked food and leaves you feeling full but not heavy. It helps that the staff are also so lovely and accommodating and this energy is reflected in how busy the little food joint appeared to be when we visited! I hope many more people will visit this food joint and get a taste of what Indian food and hospitality feel like :) ~ Divya K
Urban Masala in Los Angeles is a fantastic spot for authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere, perfect for casual dining. Their butter chicken is rich and creamy, and the biryani is aromatic and flavorful. Vegetarian dishes like the paneer tikka and dal makhani are equally satisfying. The naan is always fresh, soft, and pairs beautifully with their curries. Portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality. The staff is friendly and ensures quick service. If you’re new to Indian food, they’re happy to guide you through the menu. Located in the heart of LA, it’s a great choice for a delicious meal. Highly recommended for anyone craving Indian flavors! ~ Harshaa A
Was quite new to the whole Hollywood/Highland scene until about early 2024. I would hate to call this great establishment FAST food, because it's not ANYTHING close to being the McDonald's, Popeye's, Taco Bell which are located down the street. Instead, I would call this an efficient dining experience for either a quick bite...or to bring the family and stay awhile. In general, everything on the menu is mild to medium in terms of spice. So, if you want a little more heat, just ask for it when ordering. I absolutely recommend the food! And it's also a great spot to people watch or for a quick pit stop between tours, bowling, movies, etc. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG! Trust me. This authentic Indian cuisine rivals anything I've had on Sunset, San Francisco, Sydney, DC or London...SO reasonably priced too! ~ Christopher S
Out of all the Indian restaurants I have been in the US, this had the most welcoming people. The servers were very interactive and suggested based on our tastes. Coming to taste, the naan was one of the tastiest breads I have had in US. It was rightly spiced and crisp, 5/5 for the naan!. The lamb curry I took was very home like and the gulab jamuns were also really taking me back home. What lacked in food was the chicken tikka, which weren't bad, but not the best of the lot. The ambience though, very basic, or even lesser. Provided there's a new management, I hope there's a change in the future. If they keep the same taste, and up their ambience game, this place can be one of the best budget Indian places in Los Angeles. ~ Bhavin S
An absolutely delightful place to eat. Decor was plain and simple, staff were pleasant and friendly. Guy we ordered from was agreeable and helpful. 5 stars for delicious food in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. If you want a cosy intimate restaurant then go to one but be prepared to pay!.... This was perfect for 2 tourists from Ireland and England, who've previously eaten in the best Indian restaurants in London. We were hungry, we popped in to have a look. We choose our dishes, the nan bread had just come out of the oven. We had a beer and a wine. Having just travelled down from San Fancisco this week, we were pleasantly surprised with the reasonable prices here in downtown Hollywood. Well done to Diego, today's chef. Well done to Urban Masala for helping to make Hollywood people friendly and a great place to eat. ~ Eileen E
The new owners are amazing! They take great care of their customers, food and space! I'm so excited to see this business grow! They have great events, affordable and delicious catering options. I came in for a bite with my fiancee and they stayed open late to make sure we got to try some of their dishes! We were able to take them home and enjoy them - we got the tikka masala, and it was so good. The tikka was the perfect blend of spice and flavor and the chicken was cooked to perfection. It came with rice, a salad, and garlic nan - so good! And I the portions were enough for a little left over treat the next day. I'm an Indian food fanatic and had to get the mango lassi - 10/10 delicious. This is by far my new favorite stop for food Indian food in LA because of the trifecta - quality of food, kindness and great prices! Can't beat it. ~ Lilly O
Just had lunch yesterday at this restaurant and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! First off, the food was super tasty – every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. But what really stood out was the service. It was outstanding from start to finish. The owner, who was super friendly, went above and beyond to help us out. We were having trouble finding a parking spot, and he actually sent one of his staff to help us park. Talk about going the extra mile! To top it all off, we had a minor mishap and needed some cotton for first aid. Without hesitation, the owner got us exactly what we needed. We even went back for dinner at late hours and the owner stayed back little later than closing hours to accommodate us. All in all, it was an amazing dining experience with top-notch food and service. Highly recommend checking out Urban Masala! ~ Deeksha P
I came to Urban Masala with big expectations and a bigger appetite. The central location made it very convenient to get to and the ambiance was nothing short of impressive.Good MUSIC is very critical for me and accompanies every meal and I found the MUSIC very Soothing and appropriate. But the best part about this place is the food.I couldn’t think of a restaurant in New Delhi that could match up to the detailed attention given to the curry and blend of spices along with the well cooked protein. But if you ask me the warm hospitality of the staff and special attention I got all with a smile was alone worth the trip and will get me there again and again. ~ Siddhartha s
I recently revisited Urban Masala after 12 years, and it was a nostalgic experience. Located on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, this spot remains a gem for Indian food lovers. The naan and dishes tasted just as amazing as I remembered. While the area has lost some of its former buzz, Urban Masala still offers great food at affordable prices with quick service. If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine on a budget, this is definitely the place to go. It could use some revitalization, but the food remains consistent and satisfying. Highly recommended for a casual, delicious meal! ~ Amey N
~ Josef K
Step into this haven of Indian cuisine where hospitality reigns supreme. The warmth of the staff is matched only by the tantalizing aroma of freshly prepared dishes. Each bite is a symphony of flavors, transporting you to the heart of India. With ingredients sourced with care, every dish bursts with freshness and nutrients. Served piping hot, the food is a true delight for the senses. And amidst the bustling kitchen, cleanliness is upheld to the highest standards. In just one visit, you'll be captivated by the perfect fusion of taste, hospitality, and cleanliness. ~ Robin S
A decent place to have absolutely delicious Indian food. We had a plate of Samosa, naan with goat curry and chicken biriyani. The samosa was very authentic and the green chutney needs special mention. It was one of the tastiest ones I have ever eaten. The naan was freshly made. The staffs are very nice and polite. Being on the Walk of Fame area, the price was pretty decent. If you are craving for authentic Indian food and do not want to pinch your pocket, go for this place without a doubt. They have variety of dishes. ~ Deboprity D
Urban Masala is a gem for anyone craving authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it perfect for a casual meal or a special gathering. Every dish we tried was rich in spices and perfectly cooked. The butter chicken was creamy, the biryani was aromatic, and the naan was fresh and fluffy. The staff was attentive and friendly, providing great service without being intrusive. It’s a fantastic spot for anyone wanting to experience true Indian flavors right in the heart of the city. Highly recommend! ~ Hima B
I loved finding Urban Masala! The manager was so friendly and kind, making suggestions, and allowing substitutions that made my meal vegan. Every dish the three of us had was delicious, big, rich flavors, and a nice amount of default spice/heat. The samosas are probably the best I’ve had in Los Angeles and the naan is made fresh on-demand. I will definitely make Urban Masala one of my regular spots for Indian food, the prices are great for the quality of food and portion size and the employees really made a positive impression. Recommended! ~ Rick H
~ Dom L
I wanted to try something new for my birthday and the owners made it one of the best dining experience I ever had! The owners were extremely nice and even offered us samples on everything before we ordered! Everything tasted amazing, definitely get the Bombay Plate so you can enjoy multiple items. Amazing food, Amazing atmosphere playing beautiful music, and great prices considering how much food you get! If I will definitely come here again next time I am in the Hollywood area. ~ Alex G
~ Ana R
We went in late one night around 11pm and the smell of food was so strong from outside that we couldn't resist. We walked in and was greeted immediately. The place was a good size and it was nice and cozy. We were allowed to taste a few dishes (since we've never tried Indian food) and he was so nice about it. He went on to help describe and recommend his favorites. We got lucky when we walked in. Food was delish! Workers were friendly and place was clean. Thank you! ~ Patrick F
10/10! Stopped in for a quick snack to tide us over until dinner while walking Hollywood Blvd. We ordered Naan (both garlic and butter flavors), and a small side of Chicken Tikka Masala. WOW. The Tikka Masala was fantastic (and I'm not usually the Tikka Masala connoisseur in my family). The Naan was fabulous as well. The young man helping us was super friendly and interested in how our day was going. ~ Nikki S
This is a Indian cuisine fast food restaurant. The vegetarian dishes were good. Tried only those. Not sure about chicken items on menu. Bombay plate fills you up. Regular plate is just enough if you're are looking for a quick bite and not hungry. You can also ask for a sample of the Curry before you ask them to add it to your plate. There's also the usual coffee, tea and other drinks on menu. Good place for a quick lunch, brunch or dinner. ~ Suhas J
Quick and easy Indian cuisine on Hollywood Boulevard. Great place to fuel up and be a tourist. Metal plate with partition (mess style) serves up rice, 2 entrees and fresh out of the tandoor naan. Food is simple, tasty and flavorful. I tried the saga paneer and yellow daal. Swathi tried the malai paneer and daal makhani. Lots of non-veg options too plus samosa and Kingfisher! Not to forget the mango lassi his the spot. ~ Swaminathan R
First of all, I could have given more than 5 stars if there was an option here. The food is soo good and it has the closest taste to authentic Indian food I had in US. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants that home alike taste. We had more food than we planned for. The service is so friendly and for people who visit’s here for the first time, definitely taste what Mr. Sachin recommends. Will 100% visit this place again and again. ~ Hrutvi P
